My only day off today in a run of 12 hour late shifts which resume tomorrow. Dark grey clouds looming but not actually raining, so decided to check out my latest acquisitions as SWMBO has popped out for a while. To be honest I didn't really WANT any of these (apart perhaps from the genuine LGB Orient Express baggage car from the 39680 set which set me back £240 unboxed) but I am a sucker for a bargain.
The Aristocraft trams were £190 for the pair. They don't look like they've ever turned a wheel. The £90 BR218 has had a Piko decoder and an LGB sound unit fitted from stock. OK so it's an American diesel one but I can live with that as my other 218 has the same 65003 unit so they're now technically a matching pair. The DCC fitted BR80 came from idlemarvel via evilbay at a price I feel somewhat ashamed at having got away with. The two Piko bogie gondolas and three LGB 4 wheel opens came in at £30 each, the Esso tanker £25 and the short bogie flat was £20. Not too sure about the last one as it has body mounted couplings and comparatively small bogies and wheels unlike my other example. I've now got enough track to seemingly last forever - over 500 ft spare - just in case!

MIke, do you have a camera fault, mucky lens or something? There is a yellowy patch in the middle of all of those pics.

Yup. I've just cleaned it. Didn't realise when I was taking the photos. I'd already put everything away (and just in time too as the boss returned sooner than anticipated and hasn't seen any of this yet!!!!!) when I downloaded the pics. No doubt better images will be posted in other threads in due course.

That BR80 must be one of the very earliest to come out, they soon sorted the horrible motion colour. I bought one off Whatlep who had coloured it (plus added lead to increase the postage)

Must get finger de-greased - it's slipped again, twice! Got these for £110 the pair. Best acquisition of all though was 150 brass split-jaw rail clamps - a mixture of all types. Should be enough for all my future needs.

The coaches are a bargain indeed as they go for a lot more than that in Germany!
I sold quite a lot of my Harz stuff abroad and to a German chap in the U.K. ;)
I think the Peter Witt streetcar is actually Bachmann if you look underneath :)

Yes the coaches were a snip. The 33735 glass manufacturers advertising coach is currently retailing in Germany at around 300 euros. The seller has another couple of matching coaches which he is in the process of cleaning up but as I've spent close to four figures with him this last month I'm going to have to think carefully - not only about the price but also where am I going to put them? The rail clamps were £50 the lot. I think some of them may be of German origin as they look similar to some I'm currently watching on Ebay.de but they will do the job admirably and there's a mix of ordinary and over fishplate plus a handful of insulated ones. When I next organise an expedition into the garage I'll check out the deWitt car.
Mike.
