The TX20 is a DSM2 5 channel TX handpiece that has been desgned by Deltang R/C in the UK to be compatible with my own RCS battery powered ESC's.

This new TX fulfills my desire to have a small handheld TX that can be used one handed and still provide superb loco control.
The TX20 has a switch for direction change and a 256 step digital proprtional speed control by a 270º knob instead of the regular 90º provided by stick control on a regular stick type 2.4 GHz TX.
There are 2 pushbutton sound triggers and a pushbutton control of a servo for a mechanical feature such as a Kadee uncoupler.
The TX20 can be used with any RCS ESC that uses operating program AV1. It can also be used with our EVO ESC's and any centre off ESC when used with DSM2 compatible RX's.

You can bind as many ESC's as you like to a TX20. Run locos one at a time or gang together for MU operation.

Price is reasonable and to showcase the TX20 I have an introductory offer at the website

Re in bold; does this mean that instead of the stick being in the centre for "neutral" that I can switch direction and have a very fine throttle control?
Will it work with any DSM2 Rx and I can use another ESC other an RCS one? ie I can get a controller and use it with a DSM2 Rx and an ESC that I already have without replacing the ESC ?

Hi Ross. Yes it does use a 9 volt battery but, unlike my older 27 MHz RCS handhelds,
I think you can use rechargeables OK.
Hi Gap,
Yes to the first question. Keeping the direction change separate from the speed control does give much more controllability.
For the second part, provided a non RCS ESC operated the same way, i.e. two separate controls, you would be able to use the TX20 OK.

The TX20 knob actually has a small detente built in, so it can also be used with any center off ESC.

Sadly I doubt it can be used for Live Steam because of the way the direction change works.
Deltang might be interested in making another derivitive designed expressly for live steam.

So a H bridge style motor controller that uses centre off could be used albeit reducing the range of travel on each side but still more than a stick Tx?
If so, sounds like it could be right up my alley for a project I am planning.

Yes, you definitely can use the TX20 with a reversing centre off ESC.
I can't speak for other makers who may well have a problem with not enough travel either side of neutral. The TX20 has 135º each side of neutral and complies with servo signal parameters common to all brands of R/C.
There should be no reduction of speed in either direction. ;)
