Then Mel among others uses the Cliff Barker R/C stuff, which i think he mentioned his first instalation costing around £160 but that included the controller cost which you only purchase once.

Just to clear up that was the price of EVERYTHING (Oct 2010), not only controller and receiver (which comes with the relevant switches, charging socket etc.), but also batteries, battery holder, a battery charger and postage.

I am just about to actually start to R/C battery up a couple of locos ( after a delay of many months) and have opted for the Aristocraft Revolution system as it allows up to 50 locos (as if!) to be controlled from one hand small set with control over sound, smoke and individual lighting options for each loco as well as MU-ing (lash-ups).
The Massoth R/C chip will be great for those who who are DCC and have a Massoth central station and a wireless Navigator already or for those who want battery R/C and DCC but not the cost of the central station. In essence it would be a DCC version of the Revo stuff.

Both of these paths are obviously quite a lot more costly than the cheapest R/C options but they do give far more control options especially if you are wanting to be able to run a few locos (R/C-ed) at the same time and have functions in play as well or will expand your RC-ed roster in the future.

Jon (Zerogee) many thanks for that, so we have to wait a while and that system looked so promising too. Funny the USA site that I got more info from appeared to be intimating that it was around now. I wonder if Massoth have been putting them around to various Agents to get them up to scratch with the Technology?

I have looked at the Massoth Cat on line (Link Below see P8) and the DRC 300 Massoth Ref (8130201) is shown here as a Development Project. So perhaps some of the US guys could tell us if it is actually avilable over the Pond as it were.
