Well after months and months of searching the tinternet and programming, tweaking I have managed to finally get the QSI decoder to work a USA Trains smoke unit.
Directly wired to the decoder, I then played around with qsi programmer.
I set up the fan onto feature output Mars light and tweaked that it was bright on fwd/Rev and dim on neutral. I applied port 9 to the front mars light.
I set up the heater onto feature output rear cab light. Tweaked it as always on and set the voltage to value 84 which is about 7v. I applied port 12 to the rear cab light.
On test. When I start up the loco, GP30 the fan comes on and so does light smoke. When I apply throttle the smoke blows out as if accelerating. I can turn off the smoke with F12. I set the rear cab light feature to output 14 to do this.
Well it works and I cannot believe it, I'm chuffed to be honest.
On test I found that the heater even though working away does not get too hot as to overheat.
Well it works for me, now the GP9 and GP38.
Happy chappie
