Clai has finally been parked up in the abandoned quarry at the back of the garage where he can slowly get rustier. Let's hope nothing grows through him????? &:

R.I.P. - the weathering is great!

Brilliant Mel , i like the way the windows look like they have been broken

It's just junk mate!

And I mean that as a compliment....

There's one winging it's way to Andy as we speak......................or is that type?

Nice work, Mel. Seems a shame to hide it away so far in the background, though.

Re: comments on the original's looks - could it be a 2ft gauge prototype that's been stretched to run on 3ft gauge, I wonder? Otherwise it woiuld seem to be suiutable for the US equivalent of a Feldbahn - if such things existed (plantation line, perhaps). I did have a picture of a greatly improved one, much modified by a member of my ex-model railway club, but can't find it. It does help to add a lot of clutter, towing chains or ropes, fuel drums, re-railing frogs etc. but the main fault is lack of width. HAving said that, certain small industrial diesels were dwarfed by the stock they were moving.

As regards performance, I bought an MDC chassis block from a friend and have used it under my freelance diesel switcher for about five years. With lots of lead inside the body it runs OK, but as it has no pick-up shoes the wheels (and track) need to be kept clean. Probably helps that it has always been an indoor locomotive.

Yes , Thanks Paul, I've no idea what I'm going to turn it into yet. I jut love the weathering on Mel's one but know it will never look as good. But I'll give it a try!

Looks like its been rusting there for years, so much so that........

Thanks for all the kind words guys. Good idea Nod :rolf::rolf:.

I know what you mean about hiding it away, but this is the second loco I've done for the quarry (Byg was the other) and if one of them doesn't end up there, then it's never going to happen. Anyway, you know me - daft as a brush - I just love all of that overgrown rustiness :bigsmile:.

Can't think where I get it from :admire:.

Well my little loco arrived in Southsea today!(at work) That's just over a week since I bought it from Paul. (Minimans)

Thank you Paul, it arrived safely and I can't wait until Wednesday to try it, paint it grey and have a think about how I want it to look.

I'll keep you posted.......any ideas for a suitable name?

Nifty job Mel, almost a pity they aren't available new to be bashed.
If it's Welsh shouldn't the name be Dai Clai? :nerd:
