Moving slightly off topic - or back to it, I am beginning to think that the days of my Aristo-Craft Art-5470 are numbered - it's currently (sorry) putting out max volts and will not respond to the controller when I ask it to calm down a bit. I've changed the controller batteries, and no doubt pressed all the wrong buttons, or the right buttons in the wrong order, but that suggests it's time to spend a modest amount on a replacement, something a bit less complicated for my 77-year-old brain, or what's left of it.. (Would you believe I was once my firm's IT boss? - but that was just after they stopped using cassette tapes in office computers). I've got an ancient 1-amp LGB controller somewhere but maybe need something with a bit more oomph. My layout is basically a 28' long oval with a lot of sidings, so complexity is not an issue. All (polite) suggestions welcome...
