It actually does depend on the way your point motors are controlled, not on the DCC system you are using. If your point decoder uses accessory addresses (which is normally the default setting), then - for example - loco address 1 will not switch point 1, so there is no problem in giving the same addresses to locos and points. However, some switch decoder can be programmed with either a loco address or an accessory address, in which case locos and points should (obviously) not share the same address.
