Playmobil wireless spy camera

Hi Jon - If your AAAs are 900 mAH they are the same as mine and that should be OK.

Two things I've found is that probably help is that the batteries should be fairly new and that they are fully charged. I have a Tronic charger for my Tronic batteries, but when I put discharged batteries in it - the green 'charged' light and the 'full' graphical display on the screen come up suspiciously quickly - sometimes less than one hour.

Whereas the charge time quoted on the battery itself is 7 hours at 180 mA. - so after I get the full indication I usually leave them on charge for another 3 hours or so.

I really need to find the charger charging profile to be sure I'm doing the right thing.
I was talking about the 2 AAA in the Camera, did not even have enough Power to get the Light on. But I was also a little suspicious about the rechargeable in the Screen as well. Wondered if they would not have sufficient Power to talk to the Camera. All is fine with normal Batteries.

Hi Jon - I think the problem boils down to one of ensuring that the rechargeable batteries are of sufficient capacity and are fully charged.

My last set of batteries I took off charge yesterday and after letting the voltage stabilize overnight, they are now reading between 1.371 and 1.393 volts.

BTW - the button on the camera does have a time delayed action - you do have to keep your finger on it for a couple of seconds until you see the light come on - It also times out after 15 minutes or so and you have to switch it on again.

Ok thanks for that, will give it another go. But just now all my AAA's are in my Lidl LED Lamps. Use them where I have no other Light.

Batteries aye? Who'd have 'em? :D

Well, for this application - perhaps you'd like to suggest a viable alternative?

But if your comment was meant in a broader sense - to include maybe traction power - then I would say that batteries are pretty much indispensible if you have even the slightest desire to eliminate that abominable chore of track cleaning .... :)

First stage, check both camera and receiver are on the same channel!

Second stage ensure Windows 10 is up to date!

Third stage, connect USB cable between camera and PC, go into Settings, look for Wireless Video Device.

Fourth Stage, load up Windows Movie Maker, select Webcam, check that an image appears as in real time, if all goes to plan, should see the image in the box, from there, proceed to test that it can record, should be able to save a file as a capture, from there, the edit facilities can be used to create the desired video.

As for batteries in the camera, it is power intensive, rechargeable batteries are 1.2v, Alkaline are 1.5v and above, two rechargeable batteries combined will only give 2.4v, not enough to drive the camera.

Arthur,

Many thanks for your really informative post last week.

I have just found it, read it and followed it and IT WORKS!

I can really have some fun with my PM cameras now and do not have to rely on the vintage lap top that a nephew had, (but probably doesn't anymore).

Spread the word guys - Arthur has the solution to using this natty little device with Windows 10.

Arthur - one final question - Do you have any idea what the National Lottery numbers will be this week. Wendesday or Saturday will do, I am not greedy!
