Piko 0-6-0 Switcher

Looking for some advice I'm hoping to convert my Piko 0-6-0 tender loco in to East Broad Top Switcher No.3.. They are rather similar but the big thing that I need is a Slope Back tender.. The only one that I've seen that looks similar is the Hartland Loco Works one. I don't really wish to make my own because I'm lazy

I've already swapped out parts.. Just need to figure out how to fit the bell between the domes and fit a new headlamp.

Going to be slow progress but I hope to get there in the end!

I guess the Aristocraft slope-back tender would be too tall? They still turn up from time to time on ebay etc.

Here's one coupled to their 0-4-0 to get an idea:

I have looked at the aristo one but its to short.. I could the cut the Piko one in half almost and make a new back, as I've found out the back of the tender isn't rounded on the edges.

I've often wondered about the purpose of the chains to the bogies

Stops the bogie swivelling 180 degrees and causing a short when you put it on the track?

I'm doing a Google search for more info about the chains. So far nothing has come up.

They are there to keep the bogie roughly in position in the event of a derailment.That stops the vehicle digging in and falling over.

OOooh - sounds frightfully technical

One has to assume that, in the early days, it worked.

Now it's down to the couplings and the corridor connections - as well as the hydraulic dampers on the bogies

Photos of train wrecks suggest that some cars were secured to the bogie bolsters by gravity alone.
