Got to do some more to planter side wall on the left, the darker area of the hypertuffa

Top of planter, top of block work has a thin lip of hypertuffa added at ouside edge, so no unsightly blocks show on top surface

placing plants to get feel of look, these are primulas that like moist conditions, so will be down here beside the water

DATE CHECK APRIL 8th 2009

Actually got some track laid today

The siding to the left was already there, as was the point in the middle distance

But this side of that point the track has been realigned a tad to the right

and an addition made

A new point was added so as to meet up with the track around the new extension

From the end of the point, a bridge will spring off across to where that black & orange saw handle is jutting out

& then disappear behind the tall planter

the track here has been realigned vertically through the old tunnel,

so Mr Bling, the Diamond angle grinder, was called into action to cut through the old concrete road bed

Then new battens were laid in the channel, being a fairly tight fit, & packing put under to level

Track was then sufficiently stable to test clearances with the Garratt & this crane runner wagon,

before mortar was added to fix battens in place

Meanwhile back at the Ranch,

The gardening dept have been busy

The track bed is half way up the cliff, with sufficient room here for planting,

All the small conifers here are cuttings just taken yesterday,

They have two chances

they either live or they die!!

The tall cypress was getting too tall so it has been severely pruned ready for felling,

the prunings, from Chamaecyparis lawsoniana 'Ellwood's Gold', root quite easily, may take two years thou

In the meantime they provide a good back drop to the track on the cliff

when the mortar holding the battens had set, the track was removed & the rest filled into level
