cast a foundation in place for the bridge

laid a layer of bricks for the weir foundation

Laid a plastic sheet over the soil

& spread a layer of sand over it to protect the pond liner from any stones etc working up through the soil.

The plants in the scree slope are thriving

cut pond liner to size larger than needed

( so you dont get caught out)


fill with water to check that it does not have a leak in it

(left over piece from when I did the new lily pond last year or was it the year before)

View from weir side, need extra here as it has to reach down to the next pond level

No leaks detected

drain water

cast bridge base on top of pond liner

I used about 1 : 3

cement : fine soft sand

mortar mix

Def not sharp sand on a liner

Add extra course of bricks on back (outside) wall

Had some mortar over

so

added some ballast to it to use a weaker mix for infill between the track battens

High view of Canal Basin to be the ledge on the left will just be scenic with possible clitter at base of cliffs but offering access for maintenance to top of planter. On the right will be a quay & sidings at ground level coming in from the Wheal Prosper branch line

Take one angle grinder & a paving slab cut it into suitable sized pieces

And lay out in a dry run to check

Bed in mortar

& retry to make SURE they have not moved

Then fix castings with mortar checking for squareness

Scribing the joints for stonework while still wet

this can then be tidied up before its has fully hardened, either tonight or tommorow morning

After a conversation with Malc (PBMM)
I decided to try the polystyrene method rather than hardboard to do the support for the infil
Saw on the loose!

shape to fit ( almost)

Infil with concrete between arches first

Use a bit of 2x1 to consolidate it
