Yesterday, we went with the family to
Harry Potter World , at the film studios at Watford. As a modeller, I was overawed by the model of Hogwarts, 50 feet across, and used in all eight of the Harry Potter films.

Thanks for posting this Rik, lots of useful learning in the second vid. Laying ballast much as I do in all scales except that I use a soft brush rather than fingers to move ballast surplus out of the way. The weathering is a good show for anyone who may be a bit timid about weathering their ‘prized’ LGB equipment.

Even though you tell us the scale of the model, until you blow up the second photo, and see the visitors in the gloom, you can't appreciate the scale..

As I read it these are miniatures created to replicate scenes from actual movies rather than those used in the actual movies, sometimes cut together or merged with full size or CGI augmented live action. Still, nice work.

Harry Potter World is sited at the Leveseden aerodrome site. Now, that was first used for the orginal Star Wars films, shooting on which started there some 50 years ago. Max

I wonder what they do with them after they've finished filming. Unless the keep a stock of them in case they need them in the future.
