Mystery loco...to me, anyway

I have just come across an LGB 0-4-0 loco for sale, “New,” at a modest price. I don’t immediately recognise it, but it could be a 2117D Porter. They seem not to be currently available, some references to possibly a cheap and cheerful stopgap, but I might have misunderstood that , Very obviously not a Stainz, Otto or Feldchen, certainly looks like a US machine. Any other suggestions, were they ok and what sort of price should it be?

True, but waving my big camera, rather than a discreet mobile phone, around the shop might have seemed a bit presumptious. I should have asked the shop owner of course but as he doesn’t take cards, or have a website, and we were discussing other things at the time, made it a bit difficult...and SWMBO was tapping her metaphorical foot outside...
 
The 2117D is what is often referred to as the 'Americanized' Stainz. They are fairly common and available for a good price.
It has a very similar motor block to the Stainz and have been available in both the early clam shell and bottom plate type over the years.
European looking versions and USA looking versions with cow catcher.
They were also available with a motorized tender giving very good hauling abilities.
They are far more robust than the saddle tank porter, Otto and USA style field locos which can only pull a few small cars.

There was a recent thread discussing the possible prototype which is a little vague.

Actually the 2117D may be the red clam shell version.

2017 and 2017D are the grey clam shell versions

I think the link above to the yellow version has had DCC added may be the 23171 version with bottom plate type motor block with smoke.
They were in a set with 2 cars, track and controller for $175 way back in the BLOWOUT SALE days.

They are probably now worth much the same as a Stainz with same options and condition from a similar year. I have a stack of them for projects.

This looks very like what I saw, although not in yellow and no coach, although there were two short blue coaches on display near it. What sort of price would one fetch, approx?
 
The one I saw was £135, so perhaps not so much of a bargain. Looked ok but I’ve filled all my available storage space[until I can find/make some more] and can’t really justify the outlay at the moment. (Now, a Heisler... or a Climax...)
