I am converting a loco to battery control and adding sound with a Mylocosound card. It is one of the old generation with trim pots (coast steam).

Everything works fine except I only get chuff sounds going backwards!

I am using an Deltang rx65 as the receiver / esc. I have removed all of the jumpers, as instructed for PWM control.

I have tried playing with the chuff trim pots with no success.

I have even tried flipping round the Motor voltage wire inputs to the sound card (as would be happy with chuff going forward only).

Any ideas?

Thanks Rob

Rob,

I presume that you have the M1/M2 terminals connected direct to the motor feeds. When the motor is running forwards, please can you check with your multimeter that you have an increasing voltage showing at the M1/M2 terminals? If not then you need to check the wiring back from the soundcard,

If there is a voltage then please try both other jumper options ie. LK1 alone and both LK1 and LK2.

Please email me at pjlucas@bigpond.com to let me know the outcomes.

Looks like a dodgy connection in my wiring!

Very low or no voltage across the motor terminals... Was bamboozled by chuff working in one direction but one of the two wires is OK so I guess it gets some signal when that is live.
