I will very shortly commence the track laying on the Lighthouse, Gorsebank and Bride Railway over here on the Isle of Man. I will be using both normal Loco and Universal controllers but I am also interested in using the PC for some limited control i.e. switch routes and possible minimul contact or schedule control.

I have been using an old laptop running windows 98 since it has a RS232 port, every thing works fine but the screen is small and I can only just fit the track plan onto a single screen which makes it very untidy.

I have also used a wide screen lap top and found this much better. Now to the questions,

Is version 6 of the MTS-PC software the latest available ?
Do you need to purchase the usb to RS232 lead and software for it from LGB or will a generic one do?

Regards

Ian

When I needed to go from a serial port to USB I bought a cable from

http://www.usbnow.co.uk/ < Link To http://www.usbnow.co.uk/&...bsp; (found on Google)

It works OK using MTS v6. You may need to look at the PC device manager to see which phantom COM port it uses. Its COM3 on this one.
