MRC 1818 Sound Decoder

Hello
I have several of the these running very successfully on my Massoth powered system. However, I am struggling with one decoder that will not run any faster than a fast crawl. I have tried all the tweaks that I know of in playing with the CVs on the speed curve and top voltage but to no avail. The instruction sheet says CV29 bit 4=1 to get it onto the speed curve but what does this mean in terms of its value (currently =6)? Basic stuff I know but can somebody please explain?

Not sure it applies to the MRC decoders, but if it was a Massoth unit, then F8 would switch the output to half speed 9known as switching speed).. Try running at a reasonable pace, and pressing F8 to see if it speeds up.

Other than that I am not familiar with these decoders.

So you are wanting to use the speed curve in CVs 66 through 95, instead of the CVs 2, 5 and 6?

CV29 has been standardised by the NMRA so it is easy to answer. Bits are numbered from zero, if the CV currently has a value of 6 then only bits 1 and 2 are set, not 4. to set bit 4 add 16 so set it to 22 (6+16).

To set bit 0 you add 1,
1 2,
2 4,
3 8,
4 16

etc etc etc.

Any value in CV 29 with '16' in its' total value will enable the custom speed curve..
Values in CV's 66 to 95 will then control how this custom speed curve is configured.
