Just got to give some praise (once again) for Top Slots 'n' Trains in Fleetwood:
http://www.topslotsntrains.com/topslotsntrains/index.asp
for their excellent mailorder service - track-wise, I needed a half-circle of something tighter than LGB R3, but not as small as R2..... deciding from the geometry diagrams that Piko's R3 (NOT the same as LGB R3) would fit the bill, I ordered 8 sections - 6 for the half-circle plus a couple of extras - from Top Slots on Sunday afternoon, and they arrived here this morning (Tuesday), by First Class Recorded, for a standard shipping charge of just £2.99!

Usual caveats, no connection with the business apart from being a customer, but if you're after Piko stuff (track or rolling stock) then their prices and service are hard to beat.
Price for the 30 degree R3 curves was just over a tenner each.

Jon.

Yes for PIKO (and POLA) stuff TopSlots (Darren) is hard to beat even compared to the best German web retailers. And as you say service is terrific.

Agreed, Dave - as you say, TS'n'T's prices for both Piko and Pola are comparable with German dealers, I often wonder how they manage such deep discounts when you look at what Gaugemaster (who I think is the main UK Piko importer) charges.
Shame there is no-one doing similar deals on LGB over here, otherwise I'd buy a lot more in this country rather than via eBay.de....!
As an example of the latter, I've just got one of the new MFX versions of the little Borsig "Kleine Dicke", from a German dealer, for a smidge over £230 plus about £12 for DHL shipping; Chalk's price over here for the same item is £285.
Actually, I WOULD have bought one from Peter at Chalk at the 16mm P'boro show the other weekend, but somebody else from this forum snaffled it first ;), so after getting home I went to t'interweb and saved myself 40 squid.....

That's the demon UK distributor in action, taking all the margin for ****-all added value. That's why Darren (topslots) doesn't sell LGB, there's nothing in it for him.

Good god its only Tuesday. Talk about trying to give a supplier a bad name. I challenge you to find someone any better with the small number of shops now out in the market.

Actually quite a few ebay suppliers , Model railway Direct , Hattons ,and a few others including Bachmann spares !! So I think I am qualified to speak if I wish thankyou !!!

Also Garden railway outlet and GRSUK and Garden railway Centres when they were trading Aggh well onward and Forward

Top class service - ordered 3 Piko points via their website 08:30 Monday morning, postman just delivered them the 12:45 Tuesday. Can't really complain about that, and the price was good.

so why not order from the others then?

Some how I missed this thread, Darren really is a top bloke, very helpful and knows his stuff , I live a couple of miles away from his premises and work only a few hundred yards away, fortunately for my wallet he only opens up to visiting customers on a Saturday, (although he will let me in during the week)

He has a large stock of Piko and Pola and for my N Gauge needs the full Kato range , and now he has started stocking Faller n gauge at very competitive prices temptation is never far away.

I called in today on the way home from work only for some fishplates , but came away with a Piko shop kit ! after spending an hour in there browsing and chatting , although it cold of been worse as he has the new Piko 2-10-2 (tempting) and for some reason I took a liking to the Faller HO fairground stuff especially the rollercoaster , but that would be deemed going

So if you are ever in Blackpool on a Saturday , call in here for some train testing , cake and a brew then we can run up to Darren's and deplete your railway fund

Forgot to mention a couple of weeks back, ordered a Pola Hammerstein Halt on a Monday on Webb Page around midday arrived Tuesday. Unbeatable super service, great organization thoroughly recommend bith for service and value.
