I haven't seen those figures here in Canada. I would be interested to learn what prices they charge for them.
I'm sorry your experience was so disappointing.

I can tell you that my own figure-making effort is ongoing, do don't despair. The process is far more difficult than it at first seemed so over the past few months there has been a great deal for me to learn. I certainly have had my share of failures.

I have also had some fine successes which I can at last announce here now, as promised. I wouldn't dream of offering one of my figures before it is fully ready to represent my best effort.

Here are a couple to start with. All are 1/24 scale, about 3" or 75mm high.

These brakemen are available in plain or plaid shirts in red, amber, or green, allowing them to serve as real signals to operators. They fit the ladders on both Bachmann cattle and box cars. The example shown here is expensive because of the plaid paint, which is quite hard to find ;-). A plain shirt is half the price. They will be declared as handicrafts of no commercial value, hopefully free of tax.

All prices are postpaid.

My second figure is the retired sea captain.
Other figures are in the works; I shall announce them when they're ready to offer.

Your interest and encouragement is very much appreciated, as is your patience. Cheers! - John

John, the figures retail at £6 here in the UK.
Your figures look very nice indeed. I especially love the Retired Sea Captain. Sadly 1/24 scale is a little small for me, I model in 1/20 and 1/19 scale.
Good luck with your enterprise.

If you put them towards the back of your line, it wouldn't be too noticeable.

Time for a cuppa char. The paints need to dry overnight before I start on the tones and shading.

I dont usually knock products, but although you've done a superb job, Paul, which must have been hard work, I still wouldn't buy them, especially as there are other better moulded figures on the market for less cash.

I totally agree with you Paul. To say I was disappointed when I opened the package would be an understatement. I certainly won’t be buying any more of them.

Looking good Casey, tip you could try, pull the paint from the tin and mix it up on some newspaper before hitting the model, normally works, silly question now,had the thinning medium(if you used any) have any old gloss in from washing brushes or such like as it can affect the finish,I use different bottles of thinners for gloss and satin and one for matts as I have had the same problem in the past.Or hit them with a spray matt rattle can;)

I do exactly the same. I have three bottles of thinners for the gloss, satin and Matt. I use a different bottle of thinners for thinning paints. I will be applying a Matt varnish to the finished figures.
I will be painting the next batch of figures with acrylics for a change.
