More display problems?

I am now getting the message 'Outlook keeps stopping. Close app?'.
I didn't stick my hand out and I didn't know it was open. Please enlighten me someone.
At least if Outlook keeps stopping, it must be moving to be able to stop :)

I don't really know what Outlook is Jimmy. You've answered my query - must be a bus or train of some sort. :giggle: :giggle:

In the thread I questioned the cost effectiveness of this, and if spreading the cost through "donations" would be more beneficial. but I have not had the responses I had hoped for.
I pay for "adds free". When you look at the wealth of information on the Forum, the payment is peanuts.

Like Mick, I pay for the ad free version and am happy to do so. It’s worth it. I always work on the assumption if something is ‘free’ it probably has downsides I don’t want.

I also don’t use ad blockers, but do have a thing called ‘Lockdown’ which stops sites tracking you. I use Duck Duck Go as my search engine, which avoids all the Google tracking. I use an IPad Pro running the latest IOS version, and use Safari as my browser. It’s about the fastest and most secure browser available. Likewise I use an iMac with the latest Big Sur OS. No problems and everything runs safely and securely. I use MacCleaner on the iMac, which takes care of ‘housekeeping’ to keep speed up and threats down.

If websites want to be free, they must rely on ads or the generosity of their owners. I think the paid version here is great and thank Paul for that.

If you are concerned about privacy, you might indeed want to switch to FireFox on your iPad...

Read this and see the differences and the greater security on FF vs Safari:

Greg
Well, that article comes from Mozilla, who make Firefox, so to quote Mandy Rice Davis “They would say that, wouldn’t they”. On the other hand Apple say this ‘https://www.apple.com/safari/‘ - again they would say that wouldn’t they ;-). From what I’ve researched, Safari is a good choice IF you’re running Mac OS and IOS. Firefox is also OK, so it’s a personal choice. As for Windows, I have no idea. Once you’ve gone Mac, you never go back - they say!

I know the article comes from Mozilla (of course they were founded to help slow down big brother, not digest you like Microsoft, or Google),

BUT

There are facts there in the article, that point out the differences and if you think Mozilla is lying, you could verify those shortcomings in Safari yourself.

Opinion is one thing, facts are another. Of course these may be fine points in security and functionality you don't care about.

Also don't forget the much richer plugin library available in FF. Of course the leader worldwide is Chrome... by a long shot... but I try not to use stuff by the people who sell most of your data, Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc....

Greg

p.s. Safari scores very low on HTML 5 compatibility also, lower than Edge, Firefox, and Chrome.... as flash is end of life this month, all those sites are changing to HTML 5.

I pay, am accessing GSC with Safari on a MacBook Pro running Big Sur (the latest MacOS). I have absolutely problems with ads - don't miss them at all! Or, the dispay. This is my second year of being ad free and soon to be three. I expire on Christmas, guess what will be one present to myself?!

I only access GSC on my iPad Pro, which is my primary device. I use my iMac virtually only for Lightroom and Photoshop. So, on the iPad Pro I use the Lockdown app which, in conjunction with the search engine Duck Duck Go appears to block virtually all the trackers. Having said that, in using such tracker blockers it does slow down Amazon searches and any searches on sites that try and track you. It’s a case of you pays your money and take your choice. The internet only works because folks can make money out of it. Nothing is free in life. Probably Facebook and other social media are the largest offenders of tracking. So, if you don’t use those, you’ll avoid much tracking.
Much as I dislike being ‘followed’ around the internet, in my past business life I have gone to great extremes to track my visitors and present them with ads and offers. It’s an important part of commerce these days. Just like death and taxes, regrettably inevitabl.
