Hi all,

I have fitted a massoth onboard xls to an lgb tram, sound and motor functions work fine, now for the issue,

The headlights are quite dim, originally the bulbs were 5v, cv 50 read 131, I changed the bulbs to 24v and cv50 to a value of 30,

still they are dim,

any ideas?

I can use either 5v or 24v bulbs,

Thanks
Sam

Ok what you have done is to reduce the voltage to the 24v bulbs big time, allegedly the volts going to the bulb are allegedly track voltage. I would suggest changing the value back to where you were and see if you like it. If still too dim up by increments if around 30 to see when you are happy. Lamps should not be too bright on Trams, just enough to see them.

Have you kept the original board in the tram? - This will regulate the voltage to the bulbs.

If so, whatever voltage you are feeding from the decoder, it will be further regulated by the onboard circuitry.

You could replace the bulbs with LEDs. But you will need an additional resistor in the lead to each LED, and they will only work when the right way round. - You should be able to trim the legs, and plug them into the existing holders.

PhilP.

Hm will that be right if it is a very old Tram?

This will regulate the voltage to the bulbs.

The two axle trams didn't get anything fancy in terms of from-the-factory electronics until they switched to the small two pin power connections on the ends.

There are huge numbers of those earlier two axle trams around.
