Has anyone tried to use an ESU smoke unit with a Massoth emotion xls? I’ve set one up and it’s working in DCC no problem and turn it on and off with the respective F key. My question is can I run the smoke unit in DC? I can’t seem to get it to activate. It definitely has power via the SUSI. Any thoughts, I only run DC so if I can’t it will be a problem. ESU response was buy a LokSound XL, Massoth have been unresponsive.

You should be able to set which functions are available when running on DC..

From memory CV's 13 or 14. - You MUST confirm this! I am out at the moment..

Yes it is CV13 and I have A3 active so as a total I have CV13 set to 7 which is A1,A2 and A3

Are you trying to set up chuff for a steam loco? Does it have a clock generator or are you using simulated pulse? CV196 controls the settings for these options. Its definitely not going to work just by setting the analogue output. Not sure if its possible to set these up together to work on DC only.

Massoth makes an analogue pulse smoker. Its probably much easier just to use this with that decoder than the ESU unless you are using a 5 XL as they suggested.

Thanks for the reply, I am just using simulation at this time as I’m on the bench. I do usually install a clock when fitting to a loco.
