Re:Massoth DiMAX 1210Z

i take it its smaller, because theres no power surplly , any other differnsce mark?

Re:Massoth DiMAX 1210Z

To me, it doesn't look as "sophisticated" as the old unit - but then, aesthetics isn't really very important for a control system, it's what it does that counts.
Fewer bus ports, but that shouldn't worry most people (you only need one if running wireless, anyway).
What does the new separate power supply look like? Have they got one out yet that will deliver enough oomph for the full 12 amps, and how does the new combo compare price-wise to the old all-in-one?

Jon.

Re:Massoth DiMAX 1210Z

I believe the 1200T will be available in July and should be able to deliver 15A peak, 13A nominal.

From me the 1210Z and the 1200T will equate to exactly the same price as the 1200Z did.

The 1200T (prototype)....looks like the same case as the 800Z & 1210Z.....

Re:Massoth DiMAX 1210Z

Looks like a similar case outline as the booster I sold on the forum some months back.

It certainly is 'neater' and will fit in smaller places but of course the power supply then takes up more!

Re:Massoth DiMAX 1210Z

Glad I bought a 1200z just before they became discontinued :rolf:

Thanks Mark, let's hope it doesn't get delayed like certain other Massoth items.... ;)
At least as they are making their own power supply in a matching case, it will look nicer than a standard black "lump" (there's me worrying about aesthetics again), and it's good to hear the total price will be effectively the same.
Like Phil, I'm pleased I already have a 1200Z, though......
Ta for the info!

Well the 1200T has now had a limited production run (which has sold out!). I managed to obtain one for a customer who has previously purchased the 1210Z. I will post pictures soon.

I have been told that the 1200T will be available again in about 2 months! If anyone is interested then I will be happy to pre-order one for you (but I will require a deposit) - PM me.

Personally, I would have preferred the power switch on the front!

I am with you on the power switch..
A indicator on the front would be nice..
They have used a standard switch/socket moulding. - One punched cutout, easier and cheaper.
Does not look particularly pretty, a cheaper case than the earlier models.
Those ventilation holes look questionable for size against regulations??

Just my two-penneth.

15 amps !
Enough to run 30 Buhler motor blocks simultaneously............or up to 15 twin motored locos.

All from a hand-controller with only one knob, so one engine at a time..
Mind you, most people will not run more than one engine per handset!:)

Will 15 amps give more of a "nip" when joining live track or putting figures on both sides of track ?

I've had a couple of 'reminders" about live track at 5 amps (LGB MTS II/III), so is 15 amps going to be more zippy ?

Chris

When the lads are round we sometimes have 4 trains running simultaneously off one handset (three circuits to go at).
When I run trains then I might have three running, but that's enough for me ! :D

It's the 'volts that jolts', so the current pushing it will not make a lot of difference.
However, it's the 'current that kills'! - In this case, 15A will (easily) smoke a decoder, and probably a motor if left in a fault condition for very long.*

*Yes, I know the central station should shutdown. - Law of Sod applies.

Volts and Jolts, and Amps issues aside, BTW wonder if it will cook frogs and slugs....

Have to agree that a switch and some sort of indicator on the front would be preferable..

As for those holes, which I assume are just that for ventilation, I wonder just how many things little hands can shove in them, until the unit fails.

It's only the new 1200T power unit (transformer) that produces up to 15 amps, the actual maximum amperage to the track is still determined by the current limiting value that you select on the central station (I don't think the 1210Z can output anything more than the 1200Z, ie: 12 amps max). The fact that the new power unit is capable of 15 amps is, I assume, just to allow it enough "oomph" to have a little bit of a margin over and above the maximum needs of the 1210Z.
At least, that's how I read it?

Jon.

Additional update and some cross wires.....

In a previous post, I mentioned that the 1200T had sold out, that is not the case. In fact it is the 1210Z that has sold out and a new production run is in progress and should be available end of September, early October.

Apologies for the incorrect information.

Thanks for the information Mark, I was wondering why the yellow bars on their website. Are there going to be any changes made to the 1210z on this run or same as old ones?

Thanks
Keith

I am unaware of any changes.
