I have one of these and they do a great job. I cant remember which way round for the bend. But test on a bit of straight track.

Open up till the groves fit the 2 tracks, windy bit to the outer side. Then use that to tighten and run the unit back and forwards a few tines, then tighten up some more and do the same thing. You will find the curve gradually being created. Keep on till you are at your required curve, best to have a piece of curved track to match to, if not cut out a template with some old ply of plastic. If you go too tight just turn the bender round 180 degrees and it will straighten or reduce up what curve you have created. When you have got the hand of the thing you can curve as long a piece as you like in one go but a bit tricky at track joints, it may work ok with LGB or Peco (depending on the track you are bending) fishplates in plavpce.

Hi, try this. The English text is a bit jumbled, but the basic principle is: slacken off the large screw, place it on the rails, turn the screw until the bearings touch the rails, plus another turn or two, then push it back and forth along the rails. If the curve is too tight, or goes the wrong way, loosen off the screw, turn the bender through 180º and repeat the process.

Dunnyrail & North Sider, Thank you both for the help.North Sider I have those instrucions.Someone mentioned something about the Centre screws with plastic caps on I did not get it.
But I have a long bit of track which I will sacrifice and give it a go Ineed to bend a single peice of radius 3 LGB.
Will let you both know how I get on. TTFN Babs

On mine -which is a Massoth one, but not the MkII- has some white nylon screws which rub against the top surface of the rails.

Hi Dunny rail Well I got nowhere today. All I managed to do was take the tops of the plastic rail Clamps. What am I doing wrong. The first pic is with nob set to Zero the second pic is the nob set to max. All I have manage to do is the centre knobs from right to left.. Thanking you in advance.Babs

It looks like it is missing the 'rollers' which you can get for different 'code' (height) of rail.

But I have not handled one of these for a number of years, and it was slightly different.

It doesn't look like you've got enough movement on the rollers. With them backed right off, i.e. on zero, it should be possible to run the rails between the rollers without putting any bend on the rails. Turning the knob should then apply pressure to the rail through the movable rollers, and running the bender back and forth along the track will make the rails bend. If I get time tomorrow, I'll post a couple of pics of my (different model) Massoth twin rail bender.

Were there any nylon plugs in the box? I would expect to see them in the empty holes, acting as sliding 'bearings' ('pads' in your instructions), rubbing on the top of the rails.

Hi There Only saw your message very late There was some black Plastic/Nylon plugs that went into the 4 holes adjacent to the top 2 and bottom 2 Itook them out this afternoon as they appeared to be doing absolutely nothing. They are safe in the box. Till tomorrow Thank you.Babs

I note that you bender is somewhat different to mine but the principles should be the same.

Ok some pics of mine. As Philip says you are clearly missing the rollers, these look much like a ball bearing and there should be 6 as you can see from my pice below.

Above with a length of rail in to show how it fits, but Inthink you may have already worked that out.

Above without some rail, felt line shows how rail sits in bender.

Above showing the top, I have given my self a reminder in felt to show how the bender works as it can be years between each time I use it! Noting the scale 0 is where you start, anti clockwise turn goes to less press with the rollers makes fitting the rails easier and clockwise moves the scale up thus pressing the rollers harder onto the rail and thus curving it.

Hi Dunny railAgain I do also have one similar yourself Which I will try later on now I know how it works and it does have bearings on it I bought it on Ebay for £35:00 .
Can I ask I have a bit of LGB straight I have no idea if it is flexitrack But do I have to cut every 2nd sleeper plastic join between the sleepers on the inside of the bend so it can take the Curve and do you have to do anything on the sleeper joiners on the outside of the curve.I hope this makes sense Kind Regards Babs

You will need to specify the make and code (height) of the rail, to make sure you get the correct rollers.

PhilP Good morning Thank you for that I am just using LGB track 332 IIRC is the correct rail I know there are others 250 for example that will not bother me for now but thanks for the input.TTFN Babs

Yes to get LGB curves to straight or a different radius you do need to cut the webb on one side only. I would cut every one for ease of changing the radius or to straighten. The webb on track is to keep it the same on regularly lifted pulled apart and put together setups.
