Merry Christmas to all! I have been a good boy this year and for my sins have been gifted a bamboo labs A1 printer! I am wondering if anyone can recommend a good source of G scale plans I might start browsing? I am particularly interested if anyone has any advice around filament type (I have a few spools of PLA that came as part of the pack)?

Best regards, Jordon

These will get you started they are both search engines (like google)
https://www.stlfinder.com/3dmodels/g-scale/
www.yeggi.com
There is also Thingaverse and Printables but yeggi will point you to them

I use PLA it is good for beginners but not good for outside, I also use PETG which is a bit UV resistant and I am going to use as my standard filament.
I am in Queensland and am using PLA for points on the indoor section of my layout (read steel shed).

Jaycar have a good selection of filaments, I would steer clear of Ink Station their filament is cheap but absorbs moisture and snaps easily, talking from experience. You just have to shop around and try them to find which one fits.

That's very cool, thank you very much GAP. I think it's one of those things I can't believe I didn't get years ago. I am looking forward to printing up a storm.....

My focus this morning is working out how to keep the cat away from the thing........)

I forgot to mention Rik's blog which has heaps of 3D printing

And if you want to dip your toe into CAD to make your own or custom remix other filles this is from Rik is very informative,

I found Tinkercad a whole lot of fun to play with, it is aimed a kid level which suits me down to the ground.
