Locating Massoth Feedback Module (8170001)

I'll shortly be installing a feedback module on my layout and, as with my other Massoth "blue units", I'm planning to locate it inside a lineside building to provide some shelter from the weather. In this case, there's a slight wrinkle in that the module will be communicating back to the central station wirelessly (it's about 30 meters away).

My plan is to locate the module in a church steeple or station with a high roof to accommodate the module's antenna, and I just wondered if anyone else has experience of doing something similar and whether there were any issues - e.g wireless signal strength reduced to the point where communication with the base station wasn't reliable.

Thanks.

With reference to the above, this was in operation at this years GRAIL event, and given the size and the construction materials of the building, no problems were experienced what so ever, given that we were in the rear hall, we could still operate and control the feedback module from outside the main entrance!

In another scenario Grade II listed building, walls and floors were at least 5' thick, operated successfully even when the sending and receiving equipment were on two different floors

And, just for academic research, we did see if the claims in the manual were kosher, not far off 250 feet between sending and receiving equipment, worked as it should do.

So 30 meters is well within the capabilities of the equipment, if you haven’t already drilled the casing to take the aerial, drill the hole slightly smaller to make it a tighter fit, seal around with some Liquid Electrical Tape, one of mine is on it's second year out in the Devon Countryside, where it rains six days out of seven!.

All my Blue & Black boxes are housed in these,

That's great to hear and thanks for the link.

I've a few of these/similar boxes in the garage but it hadn't occurred to me to use them on my layout. I'll give this a go.

Thanks again.
