I'm sure you mentioned your ballasting technique of certain areas of your railway in the past. I am equally sure that I must have read your description of said method. But seeing as how my retention of some important information isn't as air tight as it should be, I presume you used the sand and cement mixture to ballast the section of track in your excellent as usual, photo.....
I use a product you can buy here called “Postcrete”
It’s a ready mixed 20 kilo bag of concrete with fine aggregate in it.
my method is to trowel over the track then use a soft brush to get the sunken effect - avoiding point blades. Then when I’m happy with the effect I get a water spray dispenser - not a watering can - as the water distribution is too harsh and disturbs the effect.
Within ten minutes the concrete is hard on the surface and by next day is set.

Pretty sure an equivalent to Postcrete must be available stateside. Over here it is supplied for putting fence posts in the ground, you dig a hole put the post in. Pour in the postcrete make sure the post is vertical then just pour on water. In 10 minutes it is solid as a rock. Have given this description as an aid to our stateside friends.
Ssssssh, the Powers That Be may be watching….. and room for possible extension round the lawn .....

One thing I learned from the LGB1 is that once the railway gets too big it becomes a chore to maintain...... which leads to less running and less enthusiasm.
So expansion across the lawn is (probably) not going to happen.
Meantime, quality running sessions proceed...

I think the skewed photos happen every time you hold your phone in the "portrait" position, i.e. upright. When you take them "landscape" it works out OK.

A red shrouded wire is doubling up as a “brake hose” on the front of U 298.50.
the real reason it was fashioned this way is so that the loco can run cab first. Some of you that have U class will know that there is no room to fit a coupling hook to the front and to make matters worse the loop is around a mm too high.

Gizzy's top tip for your photos Paul.
I save mine in a folder optimized in properties for pictures.
The photos are in thumbnails. I right click any photo that isn't orientated correctly and rotate it as required.
The forum seems to be fine with this.
Before I was rotating in MS Paint but the forum always seemed to undo what I'd saved for reasons I'm not sure about....

Looking good Paul what have you laid your track on or with? it looks well bedded in there.
Ignore me i have just caught up with your full thread, i had missed it fully thats what comes of getting old . its looking good Glad to see your back on track as someone said both with trains and life even in these difficult times.

Thanks Peter. I use Postcrete brushes into the track and then sprayed with water (not a watering can as flow is too strong).
I certainly can’t complain.
