Lil big hualer saddle tank loco bash.

Ok LGB Radius and Diameter Curves, does this help in any way?

R1 60cm approx 2ft Radius = 120cm approx 4ft Diameter

R2 76.5 cm approx 2ft 6" Radius = 153cm approx 5ft Diameter

R3 117.5 cm approx 3ft 10" Radius = 235cm approx 7ft 8" Diameter (near 4ft Radius and 8ft Diameter)

R5 not sure about this as the Webb was a bit vague. Perhaps someone can highlight.

Points are R1, R3 and R5

Note that the following below only goes up to R3 as it is an earlier diagram, but is valid and it clearly shows that the unavailable R4 and smaller than R1 would need to be curved from Flex Track.

Anything smaller than R1 would need a lot of consideration, there can't be many locos that would be happy to negotiate anything much less than 2 feet, especially on a main running line

True but Stainz and suchlike 4 wheelers will go round remarkably small Radius as will the Feldbahn Locs.

Thanks, a little bit more information to squirrel away. I thought that the R1 curve was a safe limit for the stock
All LGB stock will negotiate R1, but a Harz Bulle 2-10-2 does look rather odd when it does so, due to the overhang.

I compromised by only having medium sized locos and coaching stock so nothing larger than a 0-8-0 or 2-6-2 steamer or a Bo-Bo deiseasel on my R1s....

Thanks for the great information. I will be referring to this many times. What radius or diameter would these be? Just purchased to replace the the two tight turnouts I have.Screenshot_20180128-090208.png

LGB R3, approx 4ft radius, 8ft diameter.

Thanks.the 2-4-4 should like that alot better I would think.[/QUOTE]
If you compare the new ones with your old one that I deduced to be R1’s you will see some quite different design points. Worthwhile to remember if you are out looking for more of the R3’s.

Bertram Heyn makes Radius 0 track, with a choice of standard sleepers (LGB style) or rough-hewn and random "feldbahn" sleepers.....

Jon.

Well I am getting ready to have a new fence installed and that will give me more train space lol. For bigger curves.

Woke up early feeling better so I did another track test. I I had to move the front set of trucks forward a quarter inch and cut more plastic around the back trucks and i added weight to all the places I thought it needed. Seems to be running alot better now. Hopefully now I can move on to the next thing lol.

I had time to make the lettering and numbers today. I also resprayed the whole loco with a satin black instead of the flat black. I think it made it look a little more like metal. I also painted the front of the smoke box is what I think it's called silver. Can't wait to get this one done . Also took about an inch off the cab roof I felt it was to much overhang .IMG_20180206_170815041.jpg IMG_20180206_185141328.jpg IMG_20180206_185041974.jpg

How did you make your lettering? I tried on sticky labels but the color (black) has faded - plus your's look a lot thinner than labels! More like transfers!
