Looking for one or a couple of these LGB coach-chassis 40150 / 32170 / 31170 / 30170 ex wheels, body, couplings, possibly including railings if anyone has any for disposal?

Alternatively a couple of LGB 40010 / 40075 chassis might do as well.

PM please if you can help....

I know that this was only your "fall-back" but, just in case you're not aware, the chassis for these is the standard chassis on all of the "ToyTrain" series wagons (94xxx) from LGB, so you might find it economic to buy second-hand ToyTrain flat or gondola wagons (those with bodies moulded in 'vivid' colours go for less).

You don't tell us what you're planning to do with the chassis but, If you are after a platform at each end (as per the feldbahn), you should look for the caboose (94065 etc.) which has a variant in the chassis moulding (there is a slot to take the railing just behind the buffer beam at both ends), though these occasionally turn up on underneath other ToyTrain wagons too!

EDIT: Having checked my facts, it seems that the ToyTrain chassis with slots (to take railings) at both ends are more common than I imagined - maybe even universal in recent times. Maybe the ones I've "chopped about" were very early examples, or maybe my memory is playing tricks. If you need an extra railing, PM me. I've got spares removed from ToyTrain wagons when I 'anglicised' them. i can't help with the extra "flooring" section, though.

Thanks very much, I've been through their listings before posting here and couldn't find the ones with the longer wheelbase. They've got the short Feldbahn chassis, though I'd need the longer wheelbase. If you happen to have one of the Feldbahn wagons with longer wheelbase, would you mind checking the clearance between axlebox and underside of the carriage please?

Thanks very much for highlighting this again - would you be able to check please the maximum clearance for using wheels of different diameter?

I have a standard 300mm chassis for sale if it is of any use to you?

I brought a few to repair some box vans I had, but ordered one too many.

Please contact using 'Conversations' if you are interested....

In your reply to Railway42 you asked for "the clearance between axlebox and underside of the carriage" so I'm a bit confused as to what you really need to know (and why).

On the ToyTrain chassis, the axleboxes are part of the same casting as the side frames, and the wheels are mounted on "turning carts" (both as for all non-feldbahn LGB wagons), From the top of the sideframes (which, to my mind, is the same as the lower edge of the body to be fitted) to the centre point of the axle boxes is 25mm. That doesn't change with different sizes of wheels (though the 'centre point of the axlebox' to the top of the running rail will, of course). The ToyTrain chassis is supplied with LGB 30mm diameter wheels. I've successfully fitted Bachmann 31mm metal wheels (92421). You can only fit anything larger by removing the moulded brake shoes. The turning carts allow you to fit wheels where the overall wheel diameter (including the flange) can be up to about 41mm (as opposed to the normal way of describing the wheel, which is the diameter of the tread, i.e. without the flange). Given your "feldbahn" references, I'm wondering if you are thinking of fitting smaller (20mm diameter?) wheels.

If you would tell us what you are trying to achieve, I could be more certain of what you really need to know.

the wheels are mounted on "turning carts"
That's the reason why I'd prefer the Feldbahn chassis - as soon as you remove the drawbar in order to fit other fixed couplings to the chassis, the advantage of the turning carts to maneuver tighter curves gets a bit lost (I'm aware it's been done, particularly for wagons converted to 32mm gauge, but it doesn't really improve their running qualities). Preferred wheel diameters would range between 26 and 33mm with a lower than LGB flange. If all else fails I'd have to remove the turning carts and fit different fixed axle-boxes directly to the chassis.
