I have seen end of track LGB bumpers or stop with a circuit board underneath. Was wondering what that circuit board does. Thanks

They are an analogue shuttle unit.

Mark thanks for the reply, but I am afraid I do not know what a analogue shuttle unit does exactly.

Basically, it automatically runs a train from one end of a length of track to another, pauses it, and the returns it, and then repeats the process.

As Gordon (Playmofire) says..
A basic form of automation:
You can have a 'branch-line' (short, normally, end-to-end section of your layout, and a train can run from one end to the other, stopping for a short-time at each end, then running back again. All automatically.

Can add a little more interest, to proceedings.
