The work has involved filling the vents, cutting and fabricating windows, adding an end door, smoothing off some other details, respray and then custom transfers.
I'm really pleased with how it's turned out. Initial inspiration came from Bruce of the Hill Head and Dales Light Railway conversion's along with the book 'Schmalspurig Durch Osterreich'.
I lettered her for the EJ&KLR as although it's a reasonable replica I didn't follow one prototype too closely.

I like that brake van James - certainly a better colour than the original too ;)

Have you added or will you be adding any interior detail?

Thanks chaps - no Chris, I won't be adding an interior to her - no interior lighting on this one.

Bruce - true - we're up to three now on the EJ&KLR - someway short of your collection :)

Just one more question..... what colour did you use as I rather like it ;)

I'm sure it was this one...

But I have since thrown the tinlet away as I used the whole tin on this van - applied with an airbrush.

I then use gloss varnish applied by hand on just the planks I intend to apply transfers - once transfers are applied it's all sealed with a coat of satin varnish - in this case Humbrol again, in a rattle can as I had some left over from when I did the Frank S conversion.

The same changes would also make a rather nice horse box !Hmmmmmm.

nice job James-
while it made me think of the fakultative van -i prefer the flat roof and single platform-unique and well done -and a great color
since its so nice-something i discovered recently, and had you brithis modelers in mind at the time-is that the LGB german tail lanterns (with the milk white lens) will accept the US style clear lens in place of the white lens-and its convex-when painted white,
one like i describe with the swapped lens it might look pretty good on your new van

Thanks guys, I don't think I'll fit lights as in most pictures I've seen it actually travelled between the engine and train rather than the back.

Garry I think I'd start with the LGB post van for a horse box as the barred windows would be perfect.
