I am looking to get rid of the above item after converting to MTS. It is in good condition and without box. Looking for £60 plus postage, or will consider swap in exchange for an item of US Narrow gauge stock, perhaps a Bachmann Tanker etc.. SOLD

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

I lack knowledge of this - does the controller require a transformer? Or would it work off a 12v DC (battery) supply?

Sorry for the questions but at 5amp I am intertested ;D

You would normally buy it with an additional LGB Transformer (LGB 50110)

Thus your 12V battery will have the current but not the voltage, but it should work Mick....

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

Thanks for the link Gizzy - I see (as you would expect I suppose) that the output is AC. So I suppose (again) that the rectifier is in the controller? How would it cope with DC input?

The control I use for my trailer layout has a 3amp max (simple small pot and Darlington transistor) - hence my interest in the 5amp rating of this LGB one.

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

Mick, here's the linky for the Controller that Duncan is selling;

You can feed it with DC upto 24V....

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

Most of these controllers have a built in rectifier to cope with AC. No problem if you put in DC except you loose a few volts in the rectifier. If you only start with 12 volts you may have a problem.
Any chance of having a 12 v & a 6 v battery in series so you start with 18 v.

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

Thanks Gizzy - sorry for being a pain in the proverbial. All is now clear.

Mike - yes I could probably put 6 & 12 together but I suppose it would depend on what actually comes out of the controller as I mainly run Bachmann stuff. I'm using a 55amp battery which delivers 13.5v for most of the day but the track voltage is between 11 & 12volt. Some of my Artisto locos go like a rocket on that!

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

Hi Paul. I would like this please. Have tried to send pm but can't get it to work ATM. Could you try from your end please?

Hi Mike - I had declared an interest in it and was just wanting to increase my knowledge before I committed to purchase it! However, I'll step away from it if you want it.

Thanks everybody for your help.

Hi Mick. I'm happy to await your decision whether to purchase or not. I have enough for my immediate needs, but an extension is looming!!!!!!!!!!

Re: LGB Analogue Controller 51070

Hi Mike - you go for it.
It's a bargain - but my garden line needs a revamp and I doubt it will be this year!

The trailer layout will be laid up for the winter at the very end of this month and I have to make a decision about continuing to take it to shows. I was thinking of the increased amperage but I do have a 10amp Train Engineer (from Ross) which is capable of servicing both lines ;D

Regards
