You could consider using small metal plastic coated fishing line around 20-40lb or a bit stronger (check out in store if you can) breaking strain is very flexible.

what is the diameter it uses ? if its 2.5mm then look to Blind cord ?, similar to this product from a UK retailer, If its less than 2.5mm then maybe some sort of garden string. Its usually the rubber band on the winder that grips the rope.

Probably a bit less than half that, you join it with crimps from the same source.

Never owned a Rigi so offered rails of Sheffield a small sum for one on ebay and it worked so it arrived today in the post. I would describe this as "crabbing line" as found in abundance at looe in Devon on a sunny summer day! lol

I had to replace the cable on my Rigi tram and found that black nylon string about 1.2 mm works for me. Thanks. I designed the decals usiing Microsoft Publisher and made the decals themselves using decal paper from Micro -Mark : Clear On White Decal Paper Ink Jet Printers, 5 Pieces
