Hello folks!

I'm trying to get my railway up and running again after a good few years of hibernation. It runs MTS2 (mixture of serial and parallel kit), all very much dated nowadays, but it came back to life having been dormant for a long time - apart from one of the wireless transmitter controller inserts, which appears to be dead. I think the edge connector on it has corroded and/or worn away.

There's a couple of these inserts on eBay UK but they're rather expensive, and I can't really justify spending an arm and a leg on a system that's long in the tooth and might need to be replaced entirely anyway in the near future when the next bit of it breaks!

So I thought I'd post here to see if anyone had one lying around doing nothing and wanted to convert it into some cash. I'd potentially be up for buying two of them, if funds permit.

Serial or parallel is fine.

Do you mean what I would call the ‘aerial’? This has a small loop at the top and plugs into a hole on the RC receiver
LGB 55055. These tend to rust and cause problems, I made a replacement with I think an old coat hanger to a similar design with a loop on top. Worked just fine?

Hi! It is the red transmitter insert with the black wire that plugs into the back of the handheld controller that I’m on the look out for.

The aerial (despite being more than a little rusty) and the black receiver box are fine - one of my controllers works great wirelessly, which is how I was able to narrow the problem down to the faulty transmitter.

You mention one of your controllers works, so I guess you have at least one of the inserts?

Have you tried this in the other controllers? I'm just establishing that all the controllers are serviceable first....

Hi! Yep, you're right, I've got two of the wireless transmitter inserts. One is absolutely fine, one is dead as a parrot!

Both of the handheld controllers themselves are absolutely fine, each of them works fine with the working transmitter inserted and not at all with the dead one in.

Ah ok, so looks like a patient wait till one comes up at a price you are happy with, I wonder if there is one in here available. Mike may be your man. Other point, can you manage with one having a wire link? Again you would need a handset insert for that.

Yeah, this is definitely a patient wait thing!

I've got a wired handset insert and am using that, but I've lost track of the number of times over the last few days I've tripped up over the @$%&ing wire and sent the controller flying
