Lgb 55027 problem

I have fitted this plug in decoder to a Sachsen Ik. The loco runs fine, lights working, but I cannot switch on the smoke unit. I have tried all the function keys. It will not work in DC either, there is no voltage to the pins.I have tested the smoke unit and it also works on the loco in original config with the original jumper fitted.
Any suggestions would be welcome

If the decoder CV29 is set to 4 then it is not configured for DC and 28/128 speed steps rather it is DC and 14 speed steps. CV 29 needs to be a 6 for short address plus DC and DCC 28/128 speed steps. Is the smoke unit still connected to the original DC board or are you connecting it to the 55027? If on the 55027, which function key and did you set the voltage for this pin correctly. Need to know your smoke unit voltage, black/white wires are 6 volt, brown/orange are 18 volt, 2 white wires are 24 volt.

Voltage CV's are in the 50's area.

He says it does not work on DC, so there is a more fundamental problem. I would debug the fundamental problem first, as the function keys and DCC operation are irrelevant when trying to operate on DC. So, are there the switches on board that need to be set for DC operation?

Can you read CVs?

Greg

The default value of CV29 in a 55027 is apparently 4, from the latest manual.

That should enable DC. Is this a used decoder? You need to check CV29

There is no mention of which function output is connected to the smoke unit.

Greg
Hi Greg
Thanks for the info.
I will check the CV,s again but I am beginning to suspect the original loco board. The diagram of the main board in the 55027 manual is not quite the same as is in the loco.
The decoder is used so some settings may have been changed. May go for a factory reset or worse case scenario is if I can get a voltage at the other function outputs I will use one of them for smoke.

I did find more than one 55027 manual, but you say "main board", you mean the board that is NOT the decoder?

The 55027 manual probably just shows a "typical" main board in the loco.

Greg
Hi Greg, finally figured out what it is. The smoke is assigned to F2 and my Gaugemaster Prodigy controller (rebadged MRC) setup does not latch on function 2. However the smoke will now work, just can,t turn it off.
