I've noticed a few recent posts on brake platforms and also modifications to confuse collectors with non-catalogue items.

A good few years ago I simply swapped the platform and coupling from a 40170 open wagon with the standard coupling of a 40480 van. Just one screw involved on each vehicle. To my eyes both now look better.

I also fitted led interior and tail lamps powered from a 9V PP3 type battery to the van.

Links to as supplied versions.

Must admit, I tend to agree.. The 'works van' always seemed to be missing something. Almost as if it should have been a 'Romany' style caravan load, or a 'living van' to a traction engine..

Must admit to having freely interchanged brake platforms on my Feldbahn stock...... gives a bit of variety.
I've been known to set up an LGB Inglenook shunting puzzle at exhibitions, and the variety of brake and brakeless wagons of similar types makes instructions easier. Typical consist may be Tippler, empty Tippler, Flat, Bulkhead Flat, Ballast, Brake Ballast. Open, Brake Open..... etc.
Only hassle is, that sometimes wagons with brake added don't fit back into the original brakeless box.

Confusing the collectors, now that I like.

'We' have some HSB red and cream stock coaches.. Martin found some 'Coke' stickers which were just-right to add to these, and pretty much match (for colour) the Coke-branded LGB boxcars etc.

We often get asked what the catalogue number for them is!

I removed the steps to allow the fitting of Binnie buffers. I use Binnie buffers on all my feldbahn stock.image.jpeg Body transferred to the later feldbahn chassis.image.jpeg Fitted with Binnie buffer.image.jpeg These pictures have appeared on the forum before, but it shows that great minds think alike.

My latest van which arrived at the CFR yesterday. I have transposed the body onto the later feldbahn chassis.image.jpegimage.jpegIt needs a tail light and a little weathering.
