Re:Kent GSS rinning day at Teynham.

The group agreed to buy a new running track at the AGM. This has been exhibited at the Kent dos in the past - its not quite finished and it has been raped of point motors and the like - but its a good layout that can be built up. A borrowed Massoth 1200z /Navigator set up for today:bigsmile:
The two long sides of the layout.

Re:Kent GSS rinning day at Teynham.

With the Massoth kit the sound locos were brilliant. I took my Mallet and Rugens. (These have no skates and were are on Peco track here.)

Re:Kent GSS rinning day at Teynham.

Much debate was carried out regarding updating these peco point work. For today we placed masking tape over the frog and puched it down tight with an old screwdriver - seemed to work well. Long term it looks like insulated frogs with switched power supply may ne used, or failing that the old varnish trick

Re:Kent GSS rinning day at Teynham.

There was quite a bit of live steam too.

Great pix mate!

What about modding your Peco points to live frog?

Isn't Nick ntpntpntp one of the Kent gang....

Re:Kent GSS rinning day at Teynham.

Thats what I aluded to in post No.5 Gizzy. And yes, Nick was in on the conversations.

Just read Nick's thread.

Forty plus points? And on a portable layout too!

That'll be a big job then....

Re:Kent GSS rinning day at Teynham.

Have to admit I'm not a GSS member at the moment, but might be tempted as two good mates belong to the group. Mind you, the threat of 40 point frog conversions might scare me off :rolf: Must admit I thought it was more like a dozen or so points but I didn't count.

The Kent group seem like a friendly bunch. I've drifted away from my local model railway club after 30 years of membership - nothing at all against the club, I just found that in recent years my desire to participate in "proper modelling" has waned somewhat and I just want to play with toy trains for a while until enthusiasm for modelling returns.
