i dont know Don, never seen it before but looks great, happy bidding.

Yes. or bits of.

AFAIK originally Delton then Hartland.
Don't think it went via Kalamazoo?
Can Minimans offer any ideas?
There was "The Phil Jensen Story" on the LSC forum a while back.
His story is pretty much the story of the early days of 1:24 garden railways in the USA.
LSC have changed servers and haven't yet retrieved their archives.

I have a Delton Rio Grande version. Nice little item but a little underpowered if you have any heavy inclines

Thanks everyone - it would mean that it's 1:24 scale then, therefore just a little too small for me (the smallest I want to go is 1:22.5)

You're quite right, Pete - I know what I meant but it usually it comes out all wrong

Thanks Paul, i agree it might well look right, but I can't be sure, so it stays in the "that looks nice" department :)

don it may be 1:24 but when you look at the variety of sizes of the RGS railbuses it's not untypical ;)
Just remembered that in the Phil Jensen Story, AFAIR, mention is made of the fact that most USA narrow-gauge is 3ft 6in - so using the existing gauge one, nominally 1 and 3/4 inches, suggested the scale as 1:24.
That's what Delton settled on and the rest is history.

First off, Canada, not US, had a lot of 42" gauge lines, the bulk of the US lines were 3'. Some early-early industrial lines were 42" gauge right after the civil war period, but the real investor boom (then investor bust, just like to day) in NG were the 3' lines around the 1880s-1900 when the majority were re-gauged or abandoned.

Second, the bus is the older Delton one, which HLW has improved over time. Delton was not known for durable mechanisims, but you can get a new one from HLW if so inclined.

Ooh, I really hate it when sellers do that! :@ It doesn't affect me in this case, US outline isn't my thing and I wasn't even watching this one - but it's like dangling a carrot and then whisking it away! I've had it happen to me a couple of times on things that I WAS seriously interested in, and it's bl**dy frustrating.....

I guess the problem is that the seller can always come up with an excuse that eBay can't disprove - but I think we all know that most likely either a) he got offered a good price to sell it off-auction (which is of course very much against the rules), or b) he was scared it wouldn't reach a good enough price (in which case he should have set the start price higher).....

This was the second time of listing. I knew it wasn't Bachmann (unless it was bashed) so followed it through its first listing. I don't know how Hartland square up on size (I'm not talking scale) as the Delton/Aristo coaches are just as big (height & width) as the Bachmann J&S. I would like the Sierra type but funds are needed elsewhere.:rolf:

Ah, I think I may have come across this guy, and if it's the same chap, he's kosher.

Hence the revised listing detail.
