Is graphite paste a permanent thing?

If I apply graphite paste between tracks, shall I be able to take apart tracks in future or it becomes a monolithic track like welded one? :-\

its grease, no more no less,
no problem pulling apart,
takes detergent and toothbrush to remove

If anything it will be easier to separate. Copper slip or whatever , it just keeps corrosion at bay for few years meaning joints stay more conductive longer

As the guys above have said, graphite is super-slippy. I recently lifted my track which had been laid using the original LGB fishplates and their graphite grease and after seven or eight years outside was as good as new.

The only time it becomes permenant is if you walk on it & then walk on the carpet!

I lifted 12 year+ Laid track when we moved house in 06 graphite paste was still present in the joiners and still slippery and black!
