Can anyone advise me how I can take a mate's 218 apart to get to the cab windows please?

His grandson 'popped' one out when picking the loco up.

I believe you have to take Qty 8 off screws from the chassis, and possibly the buffers too.

And how do you get the damned roof off....

Hi
I have just had to do a refit to the motor bogies on mine, there are 4 screws that hold the centre box, which contains the speaker for sound, then the buffer beam has 2 two small screw then there are a quantity of screws around the base to undo. I use a magnetic dish to keep all of the screws together. If you have the original poly box, use the top to hold the loco while unscrewing the base then the bottom just lifts off ( carefully!!) and you can get to the cab and windows, I popped a window as well. The roof is part of the body and does not detach.
My problem was burnt contacts on the motor block, I will post on how I fixed it later.
Good luck!
Dave
