How to change the Flag

Country flag
Hi together,
How can I change the flag next to the avatar? - I can't find anything.
I am not an American ;)

I thought the flags changed automatically to the flag of the country you log in from. So if I were to log in whilst on holiday in France, my flag would change to the French Tricouleur

Hi Andreas,

As Paul rightly said its based on the country you are logged in from (based on ip address)
Its also showing the German flag for you.

Paul

hi,
ok thanks for the answer - i'm sitting in Germany -interesting which ways the bytes go ...

It seem currently your flag is the Union Jack !!

This can also be affected by the way you are accessing the Internet..

If you connect with your computer at home, you may get one thing.
But if you also use the computer for work, you may well be on a VPN (Virtual Private Network).. This means there is a secure 'tunnel' across the Internet, to your place of works computer systems.. If this is in another country, you may see a different result.

That is the simple explanation. There is much more that can affect your browsing experience, when 'The Company' IT department are involved. :nerd::cool::nerd:

VPN is the reason, on my Win10 computer I use a VPN, and at my Office computer also. But on my private Laptop with Linux I have no VPN.

I was going to say that I thought those guys across the pond had already changed the flag :oops::oops:

I've been living in Germany for 15 years, but I've kept an address in Canada.
I often use my Canadian address on-line otherwise my replies arrive in the German language.
Not much of a problem of late as most sites offer a translate option.

Can we get this fixed? My flag still shows the UK, and I have not left San Diego, California, USA, North American continent...

I suspect that others are affected, and the flag helps in responsed, i.e. don't recommend going to a store in the USA if the person asking the question is in the UK, etc.

Greg

T'is a weird one..

Andreas (Germany) was showing the correct flag earlier.
But the Union Flag, again, now.

The problem is that these things move around - most likely due to the machinations of the IT world and the way that the servers of the world unite.

I have been shown as residing in Ireland on quite a few occasions while, as everyone knows, I'm in Norfolk, England which is almost as insular as Cornwall :emo::emo:

Cornwall is out on a limb and technically is an island - Norfolk is just out on the edge ............................................................................. :hi::hi:

Seems I am in the UK which is where I was supposed to be heading in July but Flu has killed that.
I have not changed log in location for months, I was in Aust but some how have immigrated to the UK apparently.

In this case, the software sees your IP address (where your computer "is") and looks up the location. If you are running a VPN, it can be in a different country.

The software should then look up your address and know what country you are in.

The forum software is by Xenforo, so it's pretty clear there is a configuration issue, since I'm on many other Xenforo sites that do this correctly.

Same problem here.
I dont use vpn or any masking software, my home laptop gives exactly the eara where i am located--> Westwoud The Netherlands.
But still i have the British flag?

With best regards Igor
