Massoth digital coach lights-how to access features

1 i am a digital numpty. I am improving at a snails pace, but still really know nothing.

2 as such, i bought a central station 3, which allows me to put an mfx loco on the track and cs3 finds it. I can ‘run and play’.

3 i recently bought massoth passenger car lights, digital version.
4 i successfully hooked everything up. It lights, no issues.
5 in reading the light pamphlet, there is a ‘petroleum’ light mode. I am intrigued. My coaches are US circa 1880. I am assuming that it has a different light mode, like a lantern flicker. (It mentions, i believe , from memory, fa ?or pa? Settings. Have no idea how/where to find these.

6 i put the coach on the track, powered up cs3, hoping it might find the light board. I poked around the icons, i couldn’t find anything.

7 how might i access/change the light mode?

Id be grateful for answers that run me through step by step. Please assume i am 5 years old.(even that might be giving me more credit than is merited).
Fwiw, i cant even change a loco address..i dont know how. Nor have i ever accessed cvs.
As is said, first do no harm.
Thanks

Assuming this is the correct manual for you light bar:

Attachment 4 describes a Value of 20 for your petroleum flickering as below:

In you cvs table you see that 4 CVs refer to attachment 4 - so I would set these (that is CV# 115, 117, 125 and 145) to a value of 20 and see if that does what you expect.

For the setting of values - the manual will likely explain this - you say that you have central station 3 - is this the Marklin one or the LGB one?

I'm glad I'm all Analog!
Indeed so, the bit values can take a lot of getting your head around. Needed a loco to have a flashing lamp, I only managed it by someone on Mad site quoting the value for the relevant CV for me.

You need to set up a programming track. This will enable you to read the CV's. You just need a separate piece of track that is wired into the programming outputs on the CS3 Put your coach on the programming track and then look at the CV's.

Hopefully you can read the value of CV1 which will be a value of 3 Then look at CV 115, CV 117 and CV 125. They should be set at 0 by default. Change their values to 20 and you should be sorted.

I assume you have connected the light strip by using the 2 centre tabs on the strip. The outer tabs are for additional outputs (FA3 and FA4) that I assume you are not using and their CV's (135 and 145) are not relevant

Blub blub blub. I can see how this is clarified but fail to understand how mere mortals are expected to work this all out, thank goodness for guys like you!
