BR standard spacing was 60 yards between posts. At 1/29th scale this is roughly 6ft, which personally I think would look very far apart.
Not to scale, but visually better, I'd think about 4ft?
What do the experts think.

Agree, trying to use protypical scale doesnt work as it needs to be scaled down. Hence we get away with r3 curves which still be extremely tight in the real world.
Id go for about 4 foot, but its going to be down to what seems right.
2 foot might look a bit close.

My posts Steven are set about 3ft apart on the straights and about 2 1/2 ft on the curves any closer might look to much .

Saw the thread title - thought "this is a blast from the past"!.

Reminds me of a little story which goes thus;

A female politician was touring the back to back streets of a northern town. The children were playing in the street and were curious when the car came along. It had running boards and one young lad jumped up.

The woman admonished the lad "Foot off young man!" she exclained (lest he tarnish the immaculate Bentley).

He poked his head through the window and said "You foot off too - it's our street!".

I see from my missive on poles with content by others that I never mentioned my spacing. But looking at my pictures it looks like I have used roughly 4 ft on curves and 6ft on straights. This does look a little on the thin side but so was the real thing. They would never put in more than necessary but do not forget to decrease spacing on curves as the wires would not go over the Track except with special revisions to get the wires over I.E. Making highe poles. So perhaps here use a straight edge to get a feel for that. R1 Curves will probably be about 3 to 2 curves! Here is the link to my thread:-

I have to say that I am happy with my spacing, but I do have a pretty long line with 4ft Rad Curves in the main.
