BIG ROCK & LONETREE

Figured it was time to say Hi - I've a compact Garden Railway in the Town of Okotoks, southern Alberta. probably should mention I'm a Brit. by origin & Middlesbrough, emigrated to Canada in '78. My interest in G scale came from a visit to the Colorado Railway Museum in Golden CO in 2007/8. I'm an avid gardener & combining both interests seemed a perfect fit. Railway name: Big Rock & Lone Tree RR comes from the town's name .. a Blackfoot name meaning Big Rock (a local glacial erratic) & Lone Tree - (city s. of Denver where we lived for a couple of years). Theme is late 1870's, albeit very loosely, south western with a silver mine & the Rockies in the background - one of these days I'll finish the fence mural. All my locos are Bachmann Large Scale Spectrums. Spent this winter changing to battery power w/Tam Valley Depot DRS1 Tx/Rx to retain my NCE wireless cab throttle & controls with the whole intent to spend more time operating w/grandkids ... & hopefully much less time cleaning track. The photo, apologies for the poor quality is from 6yrs ago & it's certainly developed since then, newer photos when I have more time as spring time is busy & gardening chores must come first. Currently in the middle of adding strip lights w/decoders to Jackson Sharp coaches but waiting forever for parts, and doing a lot of refurbishing in general. Just like gardening, it's never finished there's always a long To Do list. Cheers... Colin
