Hello. I live in the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico. I'm 84 years old. My layout is almost three years old. Have 670 feet of track. My yard has quite a slope to it; so, all of the track is on trestle work. I have three loops one of which is a cog rail line. A portion of my layout:layout.jpg

Looking forward to being a member. Roger Bush

Welcome to the Forum. Lots of Trestles, all wood? Be nice to have some more info on them and perhaps some close ups.

Welcome Rodger, I like your trestle setup. How do you keep them upright? I notice they do not seem to be attached to one another?

Hi Roger and welcome, quite some track you have there, must have taken some time to build those trestles.

Details regarding the trestle work.

Wood is redwood. Assembled using Titebond 3 glue and one 18 gauge brad across each glue joint. Trestle bents are made of material 12 mm square. Shortest bent is 7 cm tall and tallest is 68 cm. Each bent is attached to a tie with two small cable ties. Bents are spaced 30 cm apart. I don’t use any stringers. The rails act as stringers. Not prototypical but it works. There is some horizontal bracing on the tallest bents. The shortest bents are tall enough for me to get under with hand-held grass shears. I don’t seal or treat them with anything. They weather to a nice grey before long. The through truss bridge was built in July.

Enjoy! Roger Bush

Welcome aboard Roger. Very impressive layout. In one of the photos, there seems to be quite a gradient to the track farthest from the camera. Or it may be an optical conclusion.....:D

That track with the marked grade is a cog rail line.
