My wife and I just purchased a new home on 1/2 acre. Between us, we have decided to start a garden railroad. She's a building inspector, CAD drafter, and has training/experience in masonry. I'm an industrial diagnostic electrician with an electrical instrumentation degree, and an electronics tech cert. We're starting small in a 16' x 20' area, and if it works out, we're going to expand out to other parts of the property. I have some experience in N-scale and HO-scale, but not G-scale.

Welcome to the forum....

Welcome. 16 x 20 ft will give you a good start but you may soon discover that it looks like an indoor baseboard. The joy of the garden is the open space available. You don't need to fill all the garden with track but a quiet 'corridor', sort of going somewhere, looks great.
Anyway - have fun
