Hello all,

Just a little note to introduce myself :)
I'm a Belgian IT guy (formerly software developer, currently IT business analyst & project manager), born in 1974, and crazy about trains and modeltrains. (hey, why else should I be here ?)
Luckely, over the years, my wife also got crazy about (model)trains :) She asked me to create a garden railroad, which I was happely to built for her :) She is mainly into (German) live-steam trains and (American) diesel locomotives.
(I'm also into H0 modelrailroading, but that's not why we registered on this forum)
Besided buying some new locos and wagons from time to time, I'm also a "do-it-yourself" man. I own a lathe, large & small CNC milling machine, a 50W CO2 CNC laser machine, 3x 3D printers, a vinyl cutter/plotter etc ... So, I may say that I'm well equiped to build my own "things" ...

I'm currently building a Köf (a small German shunting loc) in 5"
For some pictures, look here: http://www.digitalplayground.be/?p=137
(Due to illness for a few years, this project is currently not yet finished, I hope to get it "done" before next summer)

I'm also 3D printing an EMD SW1500 (American Diesel) and EMD DDA40X (American Diesel, but I assume the biggest ever build).
Even with my health issues, I'm able to work on CAD files and do some 3D printing - hope to get these 2 3D printed machines be done before new-year)
For pictures of the 3D printed SW1500, look here: http://www.digitalplayground.be/?p=3276
(my first 3D printed, just to test out some theories)
For pictures of the 3D printed DDA40X, look here: http://www.digitalplayground.be/?p=3339
(This is really a beast, even in 1:32 scale, it measures 104 cm - about 41 inch)

Furthermore, I do have a personal blog, so for people interested in more of my projects, check out:
http://www.digitalplayground.be/
Or solely railroad related items via http://www.digitalplayground.be/?page_id=16

I hope to learn a lot here on the forum from other peoples' toughts, ideas and creations :)

best regards,
Kris

Hello Kris and welcome. You have a number of interesting projects on the go which demonstrate your skills very well. It's a very diverse community on here but everybody helps each - it is amazing how problems are solved. I am sure you will add to this pool of information (just wait for the questions!

Welcome to the Forum Kris..
I am quite jealous of your achievements!!
We can be a funny lot here, but it is mostly harmless banter.
Enjoy!

Actually Kris, I suspect it's going to be the other way around, the Forum is going to learn a lot from you.

Regards David

Hi Kris. Your 3D printing efforts are truly outstanding. I never knew you could print such large parts. That's real engineering. Hope you have a large layout to give that DDA40X a good run! Welcome.

Welcome Kris, from Northwest Florida (nowhere near Orlando and the Kingdom of the Mouse - closer to New Orleans).

Your work looks fascinating.

I have happy memories of Belgium over the years.
