From memory, I don't think the hook'n'loop couplers that come with these HLW trucks have the "standard" design of recess that you find in the shanks on others like Bachmann and LGB. That's not to say that you couldn't possibly fit Bachmann knuckles, just that you'll probably have to do some fettling to get the height correct.Desperado said:Could I use Bachmann knuckle couplers on these freightcars ?
Useful tip - thanks. I've tried 'easing' the springs on HLW couplings by 'distressing' them. But not successfuly - they still need an unprototypical 50mph bash to get them to engage. I'll now have a go at modifying mine.ntpntpntp said:My rake of a dozen HLW tipplers retain the hook'n'loop, but because these little wagons are so light I found the HLW coupling spring to be too stiff and the entire wagon would lift when coupling up. I've modified the couplings on mine to work by pure counterbalance instead of being sprung: simply cut off the spring and glue a couple of metal nuts to the bottom rear of the hook. Now they work just like the Playmobil hook'n'loops (which I think are super easy to use).
