H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

How many lemons to the waggon?

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

At the risk of topic drift :o the lemons I'm sure are tasting better since I've been running live steamers, they are extra nice squeezed over SWMBO's pancakes with a sprinkling of icing sugar, :D even more so when called inside after a steam up.
Gav, can't bet a good apple cider (or a beer ;) ) on a hot summer afternoon when leaning on the patio wall alongside Kakariki Station, sun on your back and trains in your sight. Makes to hard work all worthwhile.

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Sunny Saturday morning, and I had in advance given the railway a clean up to remove debris from the last two weeks foul weather, and as it's Queens Birthday weekend I have all weekend to do other tasks....So ;)

Time to fire up Kaitaki

Steam just looks so good on a cool sunny morning....

At times the steam rose to be higher than me - true I'm not tall, but it would have risen about most people this morning ;D

Re: H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Thanks again chaps. :D
Today was another wonderfully calm and sunny day, temperature rose from a frost to a slightly bit warmer than yesterday. So after Church and breakfast (yep in that order - we do the early family service ) it was Manawanui's turn ;)

Downhill over Nina's Trestle today...

Driver needs to know his job to keep the train of heavy logs under control ;)

Manawanui produces less visible steam than Kaitaki, run yesterday. Well unless you blow the whistle that is ;D

Last photo from today was taken my Michelle, who also very competently drove for half the run. Well done that girl :-*
