H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Love the scenic back ground youve developed within your garden John, but this one with the far distant back ground is one of my favourites, it adds an extra dimension so as to speak

That's one of the standout shots from this thread for sure! Awesome modelling - really making the most of the outdoors.

Mid February update.
Jonny has been doing quite a bit of running lately

...and coming into Punga Cliffs....

SWMBO's O&K loco and Binnie skips for variety.

The Directors have built a farm above the log loading sidings at Punga Cliffs

It's mainly a place for the various scale animals, often given/received as present, so shall we say the detailing is a bit loose, but I think they have done a good job. Okay I did the grass and fences but it is their scene and their ideas. Give me some new photo angles too.

and the other way

Nice place in the afternoon sun.

Thanks
So thats what Hartland look like on the track, I keep reading about the Hartland stuff but not knowingly seen it in the flesh or at work. The scale is a perfect fit with the O&S Loco

It seems almost impossible to get, shop stock lists have it, but when one rings, its out of stock.
I use a lot of the Hartland stuff. Check out some of my postings or Blog.

John love your railroad looks great.

End of summer, start of Autumn update time, nothing really new, but I don't care
SWMBO Binnie skip train working up School Bank...

...slipping under the truss bridge and around Lemon Curve...
IMG_4695.JPG

...and then once again working up the climb passed the ganger's hut

The Bush Jigger also on Lemon Curve...
IMG_4693.JPG

...and past the Ganger's Hut

And just this evening working the other direction over the level crossing...

And over the truss bridge

Sit back now for an extended run of Dubs A pictures 8|
IMG_4702.JPG

Do you think the Dubs A may be my favourite loco? :onphone:
IMG_4705.JPG

Correct answer
IMG_4712.JPG

It makes nice shadows too :admire:
IMG_4706.JPG

What more can I say:love:
IMG_4713.JPG

Opps I lied, I've picked up a second hand IP Engineering Simplex and some extra Binnie skips...
IMG_4738.JPG

All will get varying degrees of reworking in the H&MGR workshops before fully entering service, but the Simplex does look at home....
IMG_4739.JPG

...it will help Jonny around the yard, hope he doesn't get jealous?:-

The light's at the end of the tunnel in this update

Apart from the, to me, pleasurable task of spending on hour topping up the ballast, the other item of not is that the Climax is now Revolution controlled battery powered.
IMG_4761.JPG

Considerable testing will be needed to prove the set up, but this evening hour of testings gets the thumbs up:thumbup:
IMG_4762.JPG

It makes the 5th such Revolution controlled battery powered lash ups now in use on the H&MGR. Battery power works a treat for us with all the flora and funa debris we get.
IMG_4768.JPG

That's all for this update, thanks for browsing, we enjoy showing you around

a delight to the eyes...

Some lovely photos John - always enjoy looking though them! The seasons and natural light mean that no two photos, even from the same spot, are ever quite the same in your garden :)

love this railway! every picture is different. i find it hard getting a different shot on mine, they all look the same, just with different locomotives.

simply stunning.... words fail me..... superaltives do not do you justice.... Love the tram engine.

As usual John, you have shown us what a lovely layout you have created. It is just briming with atmosphere.
It gives me more impetous to get my layout back up to scratch to take some new shots.

Golly after all those kind comments I feel a little embrassed, our railway really is a lot humbler in reality than in the picutres.:D

But best I put up some more pictures to bring things up to date. It's autumn now and we're getting a mixer of some beautiful days and some cold howlers like today. But when family duties and the weather allows some times it just a simple Bush Jigger ride...
IMG_4769.JPG

...when time is limited
IMG_4770.JPG

...and other days it's more active.
IMG_4913.JPG

Of course no good running session is complete with out the Dubs A:love:
IMG_4916.JPG

...the Dubs remains my favourite loco...
IMG_4983.JPG

...I'd like to give SWMBO's loco a good weathering...
IMG_4969.JPG

...but I'm not allowed too - yet:nail:
IMG_4968.JPG

Mother nature continues to work at her weathering and is doing rather well with the timber work in Nina's Trestle...
IMG_4989.JPG

...she's been at it for about 5 years now.
IMG_4992.JPG

She's doing a good job with the moss...
IMG_4976.JPG

...and lichen
IMG_4972.JPG

One of the joys of garden railways is now they age just real railways.
