H&MGR, a family railway in NZ

Been busy on sorting a couple of projects (some new wagons) of late but with daylight saving having kicked in there is the promise of some evening running with sun. And yesterday there was just enough time for a Simplex run

about to enter the north end of Sawmill Tunnel...

...continuing uphill on the often photographed climb out the south end of Sawmill Tunnel (really must work on some decent names!).

...and zooming in.

The evening light gets under the trees and is far enough south now to shine into the north end of Punga Cliffs

Just out of frame to the right is the log loading siding.

Last picture this batch of Simplex piccies is on the down grade dropping out of Farm Tunnel (hmm what did I call it last time 8| ) :wave:

Lovely photos with the low sun John - it's always refreshing to see your line emerge from winter through Spring, as our lines head deep into Autumn.

Who makes the Simplex?

It's from IP Engineering www.ipengineering.co.uk to which I added the Kiwi roof! Also fitted IP's 4 wheel drive chain and now with both axles drive she's quite a powerful wee beastie.

It's apple blossom time on the H&MGR, petals all through the railway garden give quite a festive air.

Following SWMBO's instructions to run some trains to show some young visitors the railway, we ran mostly the track powered stock to start with.

Double heading the Directors England Engines and their passenger stock.

Beckside works tram, aka Tobby to one of the young visitors, on it's train of GSM coaches over the level crossing...

...and the H&M's England Engines again.

Through Church Cutting....

...in amongst still more blosson petals.

Soon it will be apple booms but for now we'll enjoy the blossoms.

Meanwhile at the opposite end of the garden, closest to the playhouse we see the Tram Engine again...

And the England Engine pair. H&M's choice of firemen is interesting, but we'll Rule 8 applies even at their age

Of course it would have been rude not to run a steamie for the visitors...so I did!

The Leader, still awaiting the body rebuild to become Kaitaki enjoyed the blossoms too.

She ran well.

Taking the loop at Kakariki

passed the Tram Engine on the main and Michelle's IP Eng railcar in the third road (and after the photos I realised it wasn't sitting properly on the track, opps).

After the guest had gone, and after a second steaming of Kaitaki, the Tram ran again. Well it was on the track so it just had to be run again (as were the England Engines) before everything was put away

Awsome shots. I always love the sight of spring time on a garden railroad. Nothing beats spring flowers and new life. On the other side the Kittatinny Mt RR is preparing for winter :-(

Golly just over two months since I've updated this wee chronicle, I'm slipping

So lets start this update with a Merry Christmas, since it is Christmas Day when I'm typing this

There has been some running, though not as much as usual due to other activities. However when time allowed of course the Dubs A has been at work...

Here making believe there is a sawmill on the sawmill siding to load timber out...

and off to the main railhead wherever than is in my imagination that day

A boulder bank has been installed during the annual spring ballast top up to reinforce the embankment under the lemon bush...

It will provide a new photo angle for a while.

A think I need a few new photo spots so I don't bore you too much!
